Award Books: Newbery Medal

"The Newbery Medal is awarded annually by the American Library Association for the most distinguished American children's book published the previous year." Named for John Newbery, it is "the first children's book award in the world. Its terms, as well as its long history, continue to make it the best known and most discussed children's book award in this country." -- ALSC Newbery Medal


The Columbus Center IRC Newbery Award collection includes a copy of each winning title from 1990 through 2010. These books have a call number beginning with Col Newbery plus the year. For example, the 2010 Newbery Medal winner was When You Reach Me, by Rebecca Stead; it's call number is COL Newbery 2010. Part of the IRC circulating collection, juvenile award books circulate for a period of three weeks with four renewals.
